Seems like the Clever Crew is constantly in need of a camping chair now that summer is winding down to fall. Whether it be kids’ sporting events, festivals, backyard BBQs, neighborhood block parties, days by the lake, or weekend getaways, we are usually lugging our chairs along. Even Pepper has her favorite zero-gravity chair, as seen above! We curated a list of chairs that we find will fit any occasion, organized by best use. So no excuses to be left standing at that next outdoor event!

What We Look for Before Buying an Outdoor Chair
With eight chairs in the mix, here’s what we’re actually paying attention to before something earns a spot in our trunk:
- Comfort: Is there back support? Armrests? Padding?
- Weight: A fantastic chair isn’t so fantastic when you’re carrying it half a mile across a soccer complex.
- Folded size: Will it actually fit easily in your vehicle?
- Weight capacity: Something to always check before purchasing.
- Cup holders & storage: Phones, drinks, sunglasses, and keys inevitably need somewhere to go.
- Ease of getting up: Seat height matters, particularly for adults who don’t want to climb out of a low camping chair.
- Shade: A canopy can be worth the extra bulk for daytime sporting events.

Pepper tested every chair on this list the old-fashioned way — by refusing to get out of whichever one someone else was sitting in.
Pepper says: “A chair is only as good as the nap you can take in it. I’ve done extensive testing. You’re welcome.” 🐾
